Is a Sole Trader a Deemed Worker?

If you are a Sole Trader, operating under your own ABN, and don’t employ any other workers under your ABN you are exempt from requiring a Workers Compensation Injury Insurance Policy. If you employ workers in your business under your ABN, you may then be required to take out a policy to cover those workers. You may also become a deemed worker under your Primary contractor’s ReturnTo Work SA policy. Each situation is independent and requires its own review on its own merits.
